Can you machine wash a pillow? if so, how?
Question:my friend had a rough night and puked on my pillows and i need to know if i can machine was it, cuz im not gona touch it with my hands, and i dont want to have to throw them away
Answers:
Yes, you can wash pillows. Always put two in the washer so you won't tear up the washer. I wash my pillows in hot water with bleach and let sit for 30 minutes. Then dry them on high.
if it has a case all u do is take the case off. my couch pillows are sewn on all four sides my mom opens one side to pull out the stuffing and washes them then hand sews them back together
If they are feather pillows I wouldn't wash. Regular pillows, yes can machine wash/dry. Just use warm water and detergent. Put in the dryer on low heat. They turn out just fine.
you could put some gloves on..take the pillow cases off..throw them in the washer..you can wash them on cold..make sure you have detergent&fabric softener..good luck..
Don't try it, I ruined one that way. Get some rubber gloves. Take off the pillow case and put it in the washing machine. Wipe the pillow with a wet wash cloth. Let it air dry, then spray it with Lysol disinfectant. After that dries you can spray it with a fresh scent.
I wash mine all the time but do 2 at once to off set the weight. I've down down pillows too but the feathers tend to ball up.
You can machine wash your pillows but I don't recommend if it is a down pillow. Just wash in warm water with a mild detergent, when you dry the pillow though in a couple of tennis balls in the dryer so it will remain fluffy. Hope your friend feels better soon!
I used to wash pillows (one at a time) in my machine but they never are 'the same again'.
Also when you consider soap, power, water and time wasted...it's probably better to go out and get some new pillows.
