How do I keep marker on my jeans?
Question:For a graduation gift, my friends took a pair of jeans and wrote memories of our high school years, and signed their names, and also drew cute pictures on them. I would really like to wear them to show them off, but I don't want the markers to come off when I wash them. Any suggestions?
Answers:
wash them inside out?
honestly, i don't think you can wash them...and if you wear them, someone might spill water on you or it could rain and yeah...
sorry...
Yup, got to the fabric store, buy some RIT dye in the colors of the markers used. Mix some up, and with an artists brush, go over all the signatures like they were a template. Let them dry completely, and bingo. its all permanent. Just like they were made that way.
Another way is to frame them and not wash them.
Well, hopefully they used a Sharpie to sign it. First wash it once in cold water and apple cider vinegar. About 1/4 cup is fine and you can do it in the washer. This will help set it in. Afterwards, use one tablespoon of Tide and a 1/2 scoop of Oxyclean. I have a baseball jersey signed by all of the 2002 World Series players ( Anaheim Angels). I wore that jersey to every game for two years. You can still very clearly read all of the signatures. Just be sure not to soak the jeans in the Oxyclean...just add it to the wash. It will help get out any stains from normal use.
I COMMEND THE SHARPIE ANSWER. I JUST WANTED TO ADD THAT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ALL THE INGREDIENTS TO SET IT IN, DON'T WORRY. MY DAUGHTER IS GOING TO THE 9TH GRADE IN THE FALL. WHEN SHE LEFT THE 5TH GRADE, KIDZ SIGNED HER TURQUOISE PANT AND TOP. THOSE MEMORIES ARE STILL VISIBLE AND I USED NOTHING SPECIAL TO SET THE INK. WE ONLY USED A BLACK SHARPIE PEN.
wash by hand and hang to dry, use mild detergent.
