How can I remove pen stains from my shirt?

Question:

Answers:
I think it will be removed if you use good quality detergent powder. I had several problems of this type and it is solved.

You could try white out if your shirt is white but this is untested.
i don't know of a home made remedy but the store bought stain removers usually work pretty well on ink, try "vanish" or something like that!
Try hairspray. I've used it before and it has worked for me.
I take it it is Biro as fountain pens are largely unused
Place a pice of paper tissue ( kleenex beneath the stain. Soak acootn wool ball in Metolated spirits Dab do not rub stain hopefully the stain will be absoebed in to the cleanex change kleenex as the stain becomes absorbed .

If all else fails buy some stain devils .
If it is fountain pen ink flush milk through the stain the fat in the milk carries away the ink residue .

Finally launder in low temprature 30 deg using Soap powder recomended for general stains including ink
look in the sponge section of your supermarket for a set of 8 small sponges in a box called 'chux magic eraser' disposable cleaning blocks. They work on simply everything, they got a pen mark out of my new lounge settee.. without taking out any colour. If you can't get chux at your store or in your country, look for something similar on the market. The web site below describes the item in detail. These are simply fantastic.
Try to scrub the stained portion with curd and then wash it. Scrubbing with vinegar too will be helpful.
For regular ball point pen you can use aerosol hairspray. The solvent that keeps the hairspray thinned out enough to spray dissolves the ink. This will only work if you have not previously washed and dried the shirt.
For permanent marker or very consent rated ink like is used in an old fashioned quill style pen, you can use a product called goof-off. You can buy it at any paint store or your home improvement store like Home Depot.
With either method: Fold up several paper towels to make a thick pad under the stainn. Spray the hairspray, or Goof Off on the stai let it set just a few seconds, and then blot with another pad of paper towels. You may have to replace the paper towel pad as they start to soak up the stain.
After the stain is removed pre treat the spot with detergent and wash in cold water.
Check to make sure the stain is completely out before you put it in the drier. Repeat the process and wash again, once the shirt has been dried in the drier the stain set for good.
Use rubbing alcohol to wet the spot. Then rub gently with an old toothbrush. rinse and repeat. Then wash as normal. (mom of 5 and former dry clean operations manager)
This has happened to me before, and I sprayed hairspray on the stain, allowed to dry, then wash as normal. Stain was gone! Good luck :)
Aqua Net harispray. I sounds silly but you just spray it on kind of thick and then wash it right away.
It works for the U.S.M.C.
* For ballpoint pens, start with just ordinary hand soap softened with warm water and then pressed gently through the fabric. This will shift the stain before rinsing, although make sure the water is neither too hot nor cold, as either will set the stain. If the stain is very stubborn, you may have to resort to methylated spirit dabbed onto the stain, which is good at removing the ink but might also remove some of the colour of the fabric, leaving a "reverse stain". This is especially true of synthetic fabrics, in which case it is best to use a very dilute solution of one part methylated spirit to two parts water.

* For felt-tip pens, many stains can actually be easily removed following a soak in detergent and warm water solution and then a wash with biological powder. Like glues, many felt-tip pens created for the children's market are washable - If the ink is not washable, however, you can try the methylated spirit treatment mentioned above.

* For fountain pens, again, most modern brands of ink are washable (Indian ink is the exception). If the ink has been spilled onto carpet, pour some salt onto the stain as this will soak up the ink - when dry, brush the salt off gently (taking care not to rub any back into the carpet fibers) and then dab the area with a half-and-half mixture of white vinegar and warm water.

* Permanent marker, unfortunately, this one is practically impossible to remove.
