How do i remove the smell of smoke from a room after years of smoking?
Question:
Answers:
After years of smoking, it is very difficult to remove the smell. It usually is embedded in the carpeting, the furniture, the curtains, and also with a carbon film on the walls. The easiest way I have found has been to clean the walls, (mr clean magic erasors are godly) shampoo and or remove the carpeting, steam the cloth furniture, and to generally give a thoroughly good cleaning to the affected areas. I know this seems like a lot of work but it will be much better for you in the long run. Hope this helps.
Scrubbing and fresh paint
You need to scrub like mad with bleach water, on the walls, and steam clean the carpets. You are going to also have to primer and paint your walls. Make sure you use a good primer and a n enamel paint as the tar will seep through the paint if you use a poor quality.
Take three smalls bowls and fill them with vinegar. and place them in different parts of the room, and leave it over night, vinegar is an odor eater and will do the job.
We had to do this after we downsized my mom to a smaller
house. We had to use primer and paint all the walls (after
washing the walls to get the nicotine stains off.) then had to
replace the carpet and the drapes. It took 2 coats of primer
and 2 coats of paint on the ceiling, and 2 coats of paint on
the walls. If you are keeping the same furniture in the room,
use Febreze to get the smell out. Good luck to you!
I went to the dollar store and got a cheap mop.I washed all the walls in my house in less than a half an hour. one room need paint so that helped, but then we just put some vinagar in the corners(in a cup) it smelled fine for a few weeks until we got the new carpet.
good luck!
Wash down walls and ceilings to clean off nicotine layers.Wash clothing and use dry upholstery cleaner on couch, chairs etc. Then burn insence and keep burniing it for a few days until tobacco smell goes.
Steam clean the carpet and all the furnature in the room (or but new) and prime and paint the walls. Should do the trick.
