How can I clean/wash fiberfill/polyester batting?

Question:I'm re-upholstering my patio chair cushions. I want to reuse the "stuffing"( fiberfill or polyester batting ,1" thick) but after years of use even when I discarded the original fabric cover, they are full of dirt and dust. How can I clean/wash these without loosing shape. thickness and texture?

I don't know what size these cushions are. If you had the fabric cover you could have washed them in those. You need something to encase them in such as a pillow case or something like that and wash them that way. I don't know from the info you gave if they fit in the washer. If not you'll have to do it in a tub. I would air dry them on a warm day.If they are foam they will keep their shape.Polyester batting however I'm not so sure about. I would just replace the batting myself, but if you want to keep it, just give it a try and see how it turns out.Good luck!!
