My bathtub was so dingy I thought it was permanently stained. I had used cleaners with bleach and everything I could think of. Well, then I got a Mr. Clean magic eraser and went to work, it took a lot of elbow grease, but it got everything off, it was like a new tub!

vinegar. But if you have sliding doors- I have them still- I advise pitching them and just buying a cheap shower curtain once a month for the mildew- what a pain in the butt! I wipe the shower down with vinegar and then use a steam cleaner to blow out the hard to get corners.
I use bleach on the whole bathroom... I use a spray bottle with diluted bleach and I spray the walls, tub and shower. It's cheap and does the job..If the tub is really stained I use softscrub w/ bleach...if that doesn't work..Mr. Clean magic eraser (no bleach) with water.
I use Method's cleaning products, they're excellent and they smell great.
I use Tylex. Use Tylex Scum for soap marks, Tylex Mildew for Mildew. If you spray it and wait about three minutes, you can rinse it clean. Or if it's a really stubborn stain, use one of those green and yellow sponges to scrub a bit. Only scrub with that sponge on tiles and the bathtub. Do not do it on acrylic tub-surrounds. It scratches it.
I don't do mine every day - perhaps once every two weeks. As for glass doors advice that you were given, glass door construction has changed a lot. They are very easy to clean. If the person has problems wih mildew, there is probably a lack of circulation in the room - leave your fan on for a few minutes after a steamy shower to allow all the humidity to go. And don't leave your shower doors closed. I leave mine a bit open on both sides to allow air circulation.

it sounds really weird, but use a fabric softener dryer sheet to clean the sliding glass doors while you are taking a shower. 1 sheet is more than enough. The soap scum will FLY off the doors and walls! Try it and you will be hooked for life!

I use tilex soap scum remover. I spray it on the tub/shower and let it sit for about 5 minutes and then there is very little scrubbing. If you have glass shower doors, I have found that Kaboom and paper towels work great...don't use too much though because a little goes a long way.

You can use Bissell bathtub cleaner, Dawn dish detergent, Mean green degreaser.
