My wife wants some laundry help. please read!?
Question:my mother in law recently went into a rest home after falling and breaking a hip. My wife has been doing her laundry instead of the home doing it to save her mom some money which is going pretty quickly since the fall. She had an "accident" and wasn't wearing a depends. How do you remove feces stains from a pair of 80%cotton, 20% polyester light blue pants. Throwing them away really isnt a option. HELP!!
Answers:
Peroxide is cheap and does wonders for laundry stains of all kinds! Just don't wash in HOT water and don't dry in the dryer until stain is gone.
Personally, I use Tide w/Bleach Alternative and it has removed my toddlers potty training accidents pretty well. Any thing that doesn't just wash out, treat with peroxide and let it air dry then rewash.
I worked in as a CNA in a nursing home for 9 years. I can tell you that the laundry dept in nursing homes don't use bleach of any kind nor do they use any kind of fabric softener (that way they don't have to worry about allergic reactions) so you taking on your mother-in-laws laundry is a good thing! I remember going to the laundry to get clean blankets, pads or whatever and everything still having urine, feces and food stains and smell on them even after they have been "washed".
bleach? but really buy some new ones.
peroxide
vinegar and lemon juice mixed the acid will take care of it for ya
This is a protein stain. Use cold water until you get it out all the way. Might take a few soakings. I use Biz laundry booster for just about all of my stains. First rinse as much of the material as you can under cold running water. Use your laundry sink or a bucket with cold water and a half scoop of Biz, mix and soak the pants inside out for an hour or so. Rinse and repeat. It should come out in two soakings or maybe three. Then just wash as normal. Good luck!
probably a pretreater and then use color safe bleach and if that doesnt work you can try calling tide they help alot
