How to get rid of tea stains?

Question:I spilt tea on my cream carpet and it's dried into an ugly brown stain. I've tried Sainsbury's carpet cleaner but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Answers:
Last year, Cherry Slushee was spilled on my carpet.
I checked online and found something I could try easily.

Have an old towel and maybe a mild soft scrub brush handy. I never needed the brush but then, I used this on a fresh stain.

Get about 1 quart of water as hot as you can out of the tap, boil it, or heat it it plain through your coffee maker.

Pour about half a cup of salt into this and stir/mix thoroughly.

Pour the mixture onto part of the stain. Let it soak for 15 to 30 seconds. The heated water will help dissolve the stain and the salt you mixed will absorb and pull the stain to the surface where you can gently press the towel. After doing this a few times and then scrubbing again gently, most of the stain, if not all should be gone.

This works great for heavy traffic areas. I've saved quite a bit on carpet cleaning since finding out about this.

The following ways of removing coffee and tea stains from washable fabrics:

Pour some of the soda water over the stain, blot dry and repeat until the carpet stains are removed

Soak in cold water. Wash normally, using detergent, not soap.

Wipe with a paste of baking soda and water or white vinegar and non-iodized salt.

If the fabric is non-washable (dry-clean-only) then sponge or spray with dry-cleaning solvent. Apply warm water and vinegar and then have the garment dry-cleaned.
Try a clean white cotton cloth soaked in white vinegar. It should come right out. You may have to do it a couple times to keep lightening it. Good luck.
Getting that coffee or tea stain out your rug may seem impossible, but you can literally lift it out by pouring a bit of beer right on top. Rub the beer lightly into the material, and the stain should disappear. You may have to repeat the process a couple of times to remove all traces of the stain
Remove carpet stains

You can lift out many stains from your carpet with vinegar:
Rub light carpet stains with a mixture of 2 tablespoons salt dissolved in 1/2 cup white vinegar. Let the solution dry, then vacuum.

For larger or darker stains, add 2 tablespoons borax to the mixture and use in the same way.

For tough, ground-in dirt and other stains, make a paste of 1 tablespoon vinegar with 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and rub it into the stain using a dry cloth. Let it set for two days, then vacuum.

To make spray-on spot and stain remover, fill a spray bottle with 5 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Fill a second spray bottle with 1 part nonsudsy ammonia and 5 parts water. Saturate a stain with the vinegar solution. Let it settle for a few minutes, then blot thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth. Then spray and blot using the ammonia solution. Repeat until the stain is gone.

Good Luck !

Stain Removal Step 1.
Blot up as much of the tea stain as possible by using a clean white cloth.p] Stain Removal Step 2.

Pour cold water onto the tea stain and blot up the stained area again.

Stain Removal Step 3.

Use a carpet stain remover according to the directions.

Stain Removal Step 4.

If traces of the tea stain remain, sponge a mild bleach like vinegar onto the stained area and allow it to sit for 7-10 minutes.

Stain Removal Step 5.

Sponge the area thoroughly with water and blot to remove any traces of the vinegar.
The first thing to do with any spillage is to gently blot up as much liquid as possible, using paper towels or an absorbent cloth. However, do not rub - this will cause the stain to penetrate deeper. Especially with tea, you need to move fast. Then, using a dilute detergent and water solution, sponge the area, using the minimum amount of water necessary for the task. Soda water is also a very good option for sponging off the stain - soak the area and then blot dry with clean paper, and repeat until the liquid is clear. Patience is required as some stains can take a while to remove.

Old stains on carpets will probably need the use of dedicated carpet-cleaning solution and in many cases, if you are in any doubt about a stain on carpet or rugs, it is best to call in an expert in carpet cleaning.
