What are some techniques for cleaning your room?

Question:I'm a teenager and every time I try to clean my room, I get really frustrated and I feel like I'm getting nowhere. Please help.

Answers:
#1 - Turn on the radio to your favorite station. Something with a quick beat may be more helpful. But hey, even the classics like beethoven can help improve the mood and your attitude about cleanin.

#2 - Get yourself a snack and beverage.

#3 - Get set and GO -

A - TRASH
Start with getting all the trash together and in a trashbag. (try to do this within one song)

B - CLOTHES
Put away clean clothes and get all the dirty laundry together...start a load of laundry if you can.

C - DISHES
Put all the dirty dishes back to the kitchen and wash them...(or leave them for Mom) <grin>

D - CLUTTER
Remove everything that does not belong in your room...don't just throw it out in the hall...throw it in your little brother's room... ha ha..

Then put things in their proper place in your room.

E - DUST
Start with ceiling fan, cob webs out of corners.
Clean tv, phone, pc, etc.

F - VACCUUM

G - Water plants, make bed...anything else that is out of place.

H - Call 911 since your Mom will probably faint seeing what a wonderful job you've done.

I - Sit down, relax and enjoy your nice, clean room. Finish snack and beverage.

You probably try to tackle everything at once, like most kids.

Break it down into small tasks. Example: first pick up all the shoes off the floor. Then pick up all the clothes. Then all the papers. Work for just 15 minutes; then stop and take a break. Get a drink or something. You'll be surprised how much you can get done in 15 minutes.

And don't dump all your dresser drawers out, then try to tidy up everything. After you pick up your room, take ONE drawer and work on it. If you don't finish at the end of the day, put it all away. Do NOT leave it out thinking that you will "get to it tomorrow." That's how piles get started.
What D suggested is great. I also listen to my favorite music, it makes the time a bit more enjoyable. You can also give yourself little rewards like, "If I finish this part of my room I'll go outside for a few minutes."
i have the same problem but i cleaned my room yesterday and it is fcuknig sparkling!!
first get all the trash out of your room, then take out all the stuff that doesnt belong there(dishes, other peoples clothes etc) now take off your duvet and pillows and take them outside to take the cover off so you don't release all the dust into the air, put fresh covers on and leave them outside your room. now clean all the spilled mess on your floor and everywhere else, now dust using either a damp cloth, drying afterwards with a dry one or you could use the small, round attatchment on your vaccuum cleaner to dust.
now your room should be looking pretty clean so you can bring in your duvet and pillows!!
oh and dont forget to leave the window wide open to let out all the stale air and dust
oh and one more thing, spray a tiny bit of your favourite perfume on any light bulbs in your room so that when you turn on the light you get the smell!
oh, and another thing, if you want to de-clutter your room there is three rules you have to follow:
only keep things that are extremely gorgouse, things that are extremely nesesarry and things that are extremely sentimental!
when you are all done dont forget to clean up as you go, no matter how much of a rush you are in make sure the room is still clean everytime you leave it, its much easier that way!

good luck and happy cleaning!!
