How can I get rid of carpet stains?

Question:We have light colored carpeting in both the living room and bedroom and there are a number of stains I'd like to get rid of without having to call a professional or rent a machine. Is there some product you've tried that's worked miracles without causing further damage? The following are some causes for the stains (a recomendation on how to treat each one would be greatly appreciated as well as a solution to treat them all together) :

Grape juice stain,
Apple juice stain,
Soy sauce stain,
lipstick stain,
coffee stain (I think),
and the ocassional outside dirt stain.

the cheap stuff for first aid

mix with water sponge it on and rinse it with the sponge

alot of scrubbing but it works
