Wozzy, have a look in Tescos...near the washing powder...They are called Comfort pearl balls or something like that. They leave the wash a beautiful smell. They are in a cube-like box approx. 4" x 4" and they come in a blue or a pink box.the pink ones are the strongest and the nicest smell. Your neighbours will smell them for miles :) Good on you for bringing your kids up alone.you deserve a medal
don't over fill the machine leave enough room for the water to circulate and use a good fabric softner like comfort or lenor in your last rinse xx
Use the liquid detergent..Tide makes scented ones, the purple bottle and blue are great!
Use a fabric softener like Downey
if you have a tumble drier, use Bounce sheets
in addition to the other answers given, like not overfilling the washer, scented detergents and fabric softeners, a very important factor is removing the clothes ASAP after the wash cycles are complete - DO NOT leave the clothes sitting in the washer
Buy Downy Fabric Softener and add to your wash. You can also buy the scented liquid washing detergent as well. I would also suggest buying Bounce dryer sheets to reduce static cling and make things smell better also.
Don't sweat it, as a single father of three smelly washing is the least of your troubles. Good luck
Try buying concentrated fabric softner, really does make a difference, don't overload your washing machine, and if you do use a tumble dryer use tumble dryer sheets like bounce.
Hope this helps :O)
I support all the other great answers, another consideration to try, get some bicarbonate of soda a couple of scoops should do it, go through on a short wash cycle with just the bicarb to clean your washing machine and flush out any stale water, hopefully, or get a dishwasher cleaner, they are on the same shelves as the tablets but they are a bit expensive, and that will clean your machine too.
Good luck single dad,
Buy some scented fabric conditioner, powder alone won't give it that lovely smell. :-)
Try liquid washing detergent, and when drying use Bounty sheets.
stop doing youre washing in the river
I use a good washing powder and comfort fabric conditioner, don't over fill the machine, dry out side and scented water in my iron, but don't worry with three children to look after your doing a great job, and i am sure they don't mind having clean clothes with no scent, they have a dad that loves them and that what counts.
