What is the best method for cleaning a decanter with a long neck and big round base?
Question:I inherited a crystal decanter and the neck is very long and narrow, I have not found a bottle brush long enough to clean the bottom which is round and wide. Any suggestions?

Believe it or not...
Ice cubes and salt work great if you have any gunk at the bottom. Just swirl a little bit of ice and quite a bit of salt around at the bottom. And you can just add some soap to that to make sure it's disinfected. Then you just dump it out and rinse. Hope this works for you as well as it did for me!
Pour in a little TSP, sold at home centers, and some water and let sit a couple hours it will dissolve whatever is in there.
I use Bleach to clean my glass decanters. And a soft
clean white cloth, if necessary. It takes just a few moments
to clean the glass this way.
I would put cleaner in it and plug the neck and shake it a little to let the cleaner soak and then take a wire coat hanger with a piece of cloth on it and use that.
If it's got deposits from old flowers, throw a little vinegar and water in, then add a 1/2 cup of dry rice. Shake it around for a while and it should be clean. The rice will help clean like the brush would if it was long enough.
Denture cleaning tablets work great for cleaning items such as this.
go buy one of those long wire brushes to clean aquarium filters, by off brand alka seltzer, let it fiz awhile, use the filter brush to clean the decanter, its bendable and can be used on rooters, sink drains, etc.
Hug your husband when you get home and ask him to do it!!:)--
I can suggest this,as it´s the best way I know. Put a tablespoon of silver sand, obtainable from a gardening shop, and a weak solution of warm water and liquid detergent. Swill the contents round, but check frequently that the glass is not being scratched.
