My experience has been with dog pee, but you can purchase a product at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club called Odo-Ban. You need to clean the stain as best you can, but then you also need to SOAK the area in Odo-Ban. It may take you three or four applications, but it will really help kill the stink. Odo-Ban smells really good and has enzymes that eat the stinky odors out of your floor. You have to remember that the liquid has not only soaked through your carpet, but into the pad underneath as well. So you need to apply something that will soak down to the padding also.
I moved into a house two years ago and removed the carpet in a bedroom where dogs had peed repeatedly. The pee had soaked into the concrete floor and so I tried to clean it before I had the new carpet installed. I started with dumping 5-gallon buckets of hot, bleachy water, and it didn't kill the smell. I was getting discouraged and went and bought the Odo-Ban upon the recommendation of a friend, and after the third application, the smell really started to go away. I would recommend that you try this before getting new carpet.
Be sure and watch that the cat does not return to pee in that spot again. I sure hope that it was a female cat. Their pee smells less horrid than a male cat.
never mind the stain the smell will be a million times worse
cat pee is the worst of the worst for getting rid of the smell, what ever you do don't use anything with bleach (even a tiny amount) in as they like the smell and will pee there again, I would go to Home base and hire the carpet cleaner it is £25 for a weekend not sure about just the day, good luck
Get a new carpet, I had a cat that peed on my cream bedroom carpet even though I eventually got rid of the stain I tried everything but couldn't get rid of the smell and the cat kept going back and peeing in the same spot (dirty b******)
Eventually I had to buy a new carpet, scrub the floorboards and get rid of the cat.
You may be able to get the stain out, but the smell will linger forever. It's probably a better idea to get a new carpet... but with pets, it's much easier to keep clean if you have laminate flooring.
purchase new carpet and have a carpenter cut out the plywood sub floor and replace it also then get rid of the cat
Make a mixture of vinegar and water 50/50, put it in a spray bottle spray the are, blot up. Repeat until the scent it gone...:)
