Is there any way to get Crisco out of a comforter?

Question:Yes I mean the crisco you grease pans with. My son got it and smeared it on his comforter in several places. I have already washed it 2 times on hot water with tons of soap and it hasn't budged... Is there any way to get it out or is it just going to have to go in the trash?

Please refrain from all of the "Where were you?" comments- kids get into things sometimes and you just don't catch them until they already made the mess.

Answers:
Try Dawn liquid dish soap. It cuts grease... put a little on the spot ... rub it in good... and launder as normal. Every time i get a grease splatter from cooking .. I use it on my clothes and it comes out! Good luck!

I'll try to help you save your son's comforter ... first, get at least one FULL Sunday paper, and your iron ... put half of that paper UNDER the stain, and put two sheets of newspaper OVER the stain. Heat the iron up and 'press down' as hard as you can. This should 'melt' the Crisco, but to be 'as clean as possible' may take several 'pressings' with it 'cooling completely' after each one. Next, get a box of baking soda and a glass of water and a small bowl. Put some soda into the bowl, add a little water and make the soda into a 'paste' (slightly thicker than toothpaste). Take a HARD TOOTHBRUSH and 'brush the paste' onto the stain, on BOTH SIDES and let it 'dry' naturally, then scrape the paste off and apply another layer of paste. Then go back and do at least two more 'pressings' with the iron. By then you should have gotten MOST of the Crisco out of the comforter, and you can 'wash it' ... but DISCONNECT the cold water when you are filling the washing machine, and STOP it and re-run the 'wash cycle' three times before you reconnect the cold water and run it through the WHOLE CYCLE. You may have a 'little darker area' here and there on the comforter, but it won't be anything that will 'damage' it or your son ... and I do hope that you put the Crisco can where he 'can not possibly reach it' ... so he can find something else to 'mess with' when you aren't looking.
i wasnt going to ask "where were you". i was going to say something along the lines of not believing "the kid did it excuse". but YAHOO has already warned me for using adult language.

so i guess i will just suggest a waterless hand cleaner, like GOOP. can be found in automotive departments of discount stores.
smear it on the stain, then wash.
its thick, like crisco.
Frank S is correct. Use a petroleum-based hand cleaner, like auto mechanics use. I am a cook, and we use a brand called Gojo. It's a thick, white paste, like very thick hand lotion. It works REALLY well for getting grease out of aprons and such...just smear it on the comforter by hand---really rub it in well---and launder it as usual. Since a comforter is so thick, it might require 2 washings, but it ought to work.
I've gotta agree with the person that said to use Dawn diswashing detergent. I use it several times a week for greasy food stains and it works great! If it doesn't come out after one washing, try it again. It has never failed me, even when I have washed AND dried an item with grease or oil spots.
Try rubbing a genorous amount of baby powders into the stain, rubb it in real good, let it work for a few minutes then toss it in the wash with a little bit of lighter fluid in the washing water, my husband is a mechanic and this get out motor oil so it should work for crisco as well, GOOD LUCK! : )
With grease, I soak the spot with a generous amount of Mr Clean then hot water wash with Gain, Oxyclean and a splash of pure orange essential oil.
