See if you can find out if they are washable suede.
Usually leather and suede are not washable and water will ruin them. Take a stiff brush to the shoes and see if you can rub out the dirt/spots.
Getting wet isn't good for the suede. You can get a cleaning block for suede that is kind of like a rubber eraser, they do a fairly good job at taking off most of the marks.
