How do I stop getting carpet balls?

Question:I have fairly old carpet that only gets vacuumed every couple of weeks. I've noticed I'm getting a lot of carpet balls. Is there anyway of preventing this?

Answers:
The process is called carpet pilling and if you vacuum more frequently it will help, but there is no way to prevent it.

shampoo the carpet it will work most of them out
yes, try wearing some underwear before dragging them
Wierd!! never heard of this before. I know that plain vinegar will remove lint balls from cloths and rugs.. maybe somehow you try this in the cleaning solution...
