Why does my washing machine smell so bad?have put it on lots of 90s washes and it still stinks the house out?
Question:it is a servis washer and if the door is left open the whole house smells, also if the clothes do not come straight out after washing they smell foul too
Answers:
You need to give it a good clean. Run your machine on a 90Âșc , add a cup of bleach, do the same again and add a cup of vinegar,. This will clean out the pipes and leave your machine nice and clean. Smell free
Try taking the tray out where you put the powder and clean it and under it. A lot of people forget about the tray getting mucky.
Also, try getting some Calgon or similar to get rid of limescale, could be that built up
Try to use the drain function on the machine and then refill and see if this helps...Also try cleaning the detergent tray out then using some bleach in the machine but leave the machine empty of clothes when doing this..
It might be the drain which takes the water away.
Try running hot water with a cup of arm & hammer baking soda through it and see if that helps. You might also have something blocking the filter, try to take it apart and clean it out.
well what i would do is a combination of all the answers you got! clean the tray out, clean the filter out(usually on the bottomright hand corner of the machine with a flip down cover!) then rubn it on a 90 wasyh with bleach, vinegar, soda crystal things and maybe even floor cleaner, then check the drain that is is draining into, tthe smell could be travelling up the tubes and into the machine from there!! if that isnt working then call the manufacterer and see what they suggest!!
good luck!
I hate to tell you, but you would really need to buy a new washer, as you've tried all the things to clear the smell, the only option now would to be to change the whole drum unit, and the hose's and pump unit. this would cost more than a new machine, so suggest you replace the appliance. When you get your new machine run it on a hot wash regular, and if your using fabric conditioner then cut down on the amount your using, also the same with the washing powder.
