How can we secure our new washing machine?

Question:We got a front-loading washing machine as a wedding gift. Our apartment has a W/D hookup in the basement (with a concrete floor - no way to bolt things down). We used a level to find a good spot for the washer, and we took out the braces that attach the drum during shipping, and because it's a front-loading machine, keeping the load "balanced" isn't an issue - but it STILL shakes and makes a racket when it starts the spin cycle. We can't really weigh it down, and because we rent, we can't alter the basement by building a little compartment to tuck it into. I'm afraid all that jumping around is going to shorten the machine's life span. Can anyone suggest a way to secure it without doing anything drastic?
