Why do americans use laundry and dont have their own washing machines?

Some people can't afford a washing machine, or possibly live somewhere where there is no room for one.
I don't know anyone who doesn't have their own washer and dryer in their house.
b/c they can't afford to buy one...duhhh.
a lot of people own their own machines. Some can't afford one, or they live where it isn't practical
some people go to the laundry mat, some people don't, why does it matter?
Most people have laundry machine AND dryers. The people who don't either can't afford them, or don't have one because they don't want one in their apartment.
p.s. save up to $75 a year by air drying your clothes :)
i have a washer and a dryer, i love them. i despise landromats. who really wants to go spend 2 hrs at a landromat after working all day, or night in my case
America is a more transit society. You will move to different residencies several times in a career. Most apartments don't have single dwelling washing machine hookups, but rather a central laundry room. The only good thing about a laudromat is you can get it all done with multiple machines in about 2 hours.
Because either
1.Can't afford a washer.
2.They live in an apartment or house that the landlord does not allow washers.
3. There is not room for a washer
4. They are college students.
5. They are vacationing and that is the only way to wash clothes.
6.It is faster..They work a lot and can't get to the laundry so they take it to the laundry-mat and wash all at the sametime.
7. Their washer is broken and haven't been able to replace it yet.
8. They have articles that are too big for the washer at home.
because it occupies lot of space and difficult to find space to let out humid air out of dryer from several apartments.
Some have washer machines and still go to the laundrymat. They can get all their washing done at once.I prefer to do all mine at one time. That's why I go sometimes.
limited space, can't afford the machines or they are in fact smart because they would rather take their laundry to the laundrymat and do a weeks worth of laundry in a couple hours...time management at its finest.
