I need help with organizing my bedroom, please help me?
Question:Ok, I don't have much space, but, I need some help with organizing my bedroom. I am going to be going through and giving away clothes I don't wear. But, I was curious if anyone has any advice or tips on how I can keep organized after I finally get the room organized? Well, I have a waterbed. It has a total of 6 drawers I can put clothes in. My closet isn't very big. It has the double pole thing. One on top and one on the bottom. I would really appreciate if anyone could help me get organized and keep it clean...cause it is really starting to get to me. Coming home and seeing my room in a complete disaster. Please help me!!

How to Organize Your Room
Have a room full of stuff you never use, but never bothered to throw away? Read on to learn how to organize your stuff, step by step.
Steps
1. Start with a small area, like a closet or desk.
2. Spread everything that is in that area out on the floor or bed.
3. Make separate piles for things that you want to:
* Throw away
* Give away
* Keep and use a lot
* Keep but not use much
* Display (for example, artwork or other cool stuff)
* Move
4. Throw all the stuff in the "Throw Away" pile out.
5. Give things in the "Give Away" pile to a shelter or organization.
6. Store the things in the "Keep but not use much" pile in large containers.
7. Put stuff you want to "Display" on top of your desk, bureau, etc. so it looks good.
8. Separate things you want to use a lot into categories, and put them in small containers, or a place where they are easy to reach.
9. Move things in the "Move" pile to somewhere else in the room or house. Once you finish organizing the small area, move on to a new area.
Tips
* Stuff that you give away should be in good condition.
* If you don't want to give something away, you could sell it in a garage sale.
* Label the piles so you don't accidentally throw away something you want.
* Get some cabinets, drawers, or other storage items to help your organize. You can get cheap but cheerful storage items from shops such as IKEA or your local supermarket, they're great if you're on a budget.
Warnings
* Some people have a hard time throwing or giving things away, even if they will never use them. If you are one of those people, Use this rule: If you haven't used the item in about 1 year, you don't need it. An exception is if the item is valuable. If you aren't sure, keep the item for about a month and if you haven't used it by then, get rid of it.
* Be careful if you have pets that roam freely around the house they could grab something and get harmed.
Keep the room clean by vacuuming, scrubbing, washing, dusting, or whatever else you need to do to keep it presentable. If your stuff starts accumulating again, just take a few minutes each day to put everything where it belongs.
Just make sure that you put your clean laundry away right after it is washed. Don't procrastinate! That is my problem. Also just put things back where they were when you are done with them. That way you always know where they are, and they aren't laying out all over your room.
Make sure that there is nothing in your bedroom that could go anywhere else in the house.
Laundry should be near washer and dryer
Hair stuff in the bathroom if possible
coats in an out of the way closet until you need them
extra purses etc. maybe you could store in a bin in the garage or somewhere
don't keep prom dresses and things you are not using in your room
Well...since you don't have a lot of space horizontally...go vertical.get like a cheap shelving unit that could fit in your closet or something...you can organize stuff that way. they sell plastic ones at the store for 10-20 dollars. They have these plastic bags at the store...in the travel section...by the suit cases...that you can vacuum the air out of.since its summer...you could put all your winter stuff in it...and when its winter.put summer stuff in it.that will save TONS of space! get like little cute baskets to put on your dresser or headboard for other little things...look online for organizing stores and stuff...good luck!
just once u clean it make sure u put stuff away after
One thing that I found that helped me is baskets and big tubs .
You probably need some space savers. You can go to Lowe's or Home Depot. When you are cleaning your room look at the things you don't use at all. Ask yourself how many times have I used this or wore this. If your have used it within 6 months get rid of it. Also when you are replacing things get rid of what you replaced. That should help a little.
First, put all of your clothes on your bed. It'll be a huge messy pile, don't worry, you can do it. Then go through everything and figure out what no longer fits. Donate it or give it to a younger relative. Take all your winter clothes and put them in a large plastic storage container. Is there anyplace in your house to store it? If not, cover it with a cute piece of fabric (available cheap from Joanne's) and use it as a little endtable.
Fold all your clothes up and put them in your drawers. Jeans, T-Shirts, Underwear, Pajamas, Shorts, Workout Clothes. Seperate them out so stuff is easier to find and you don't have to dig through. Any dresses, or nice pants, dressy shirts, jackets and hoodies, should be hung in your closet.
Next, clean your room. Get a huge garbage bag and throw out everything you don't want anymore. Put the rest of the stuff on your bed. If you have any unwanted furniture, get rid of it!
Get a plastic space organizer from target. The tall ones with lots of drawers! Organize all your loose stuff in each of these drawers. Target has really cute stuff, so it'll add charachter to your room. Put your books on the shelf.
Once everything is clean, maybe go and buy a cute wastebasket, or little decorations for your room. Choose complimentary colors in a style you like!

Two things to start:
1) A place for everything, and everything in it's place.
2) Stand in the doorway to your bedroom. Think-how do you want this room to look?
Now:
It's good you are getting rid of clothes you don't wear-that gives you more room for what you keep.
What things need to be hung up, go in the closet, in an organized way. Put skirts on the bottom pole, tops on the top, long sleeved tops on one side, then the short sleeved ones. Jackets can go on top or lower pole-your choice.
Six drawers: One or two for pants/jeans. Another for sweaters/tops to fold and put away. One for nightwear. One or two for underthings.
Start with the closet, get the clothes that are clean and to keep put away, the dirty ones-you need a laundry basket or hamper for if there is room for one in your room-great. If not, maybe in the bathroom. Box or bag up what things you are getting rid of. Do you have a dresser, as well as the six drawers? If not, the above mentioned items for the drawers should be done now, in putting all your clean clothes away where they belong. Any/all surfaces in your room please clear off and declutter. Dust, put the items back that belong there.
Please pick one day of the week to do your "cleaning", and keep up with decluttering surfaces every night before going to bed. The day you clean-strip your bed, put on clean sheets, freshly remake your bed. Even when you do this first "going thru", remake your bed near the end.
When cleaning, and done organizing your room, dust, and vacuum your room. You might want to open your bedroom window to let in fresh air while you are reorganizing and cleaning. Then close the window when done.

It's hard, daunting, but you can do it! I make it a rule that I don't buy ANYTHING unless I've gone through my closet and drawers and actually have a place for the something new I want to purchase! Every six months I go through my drawers and closet and get a couple of bags of clothes and stuff that I donate to the church.
I have everything organized by type or use. Ex. my tennis clothes hang side by side, my tee shirts are in one side of my drawer, tank tops and bathing suits on the other...
In my closet blouses hang together by sleeve length, dresses too. I use a lot of pant and skirt hangers that allow you to hang 4-5 things from one hook, a real space saver.
Good luck!
get a ton of cardboard from your local stores and duct tape and make boxes without tops (drawers) that way things can stack UP it will give you a lot more room to put stuff.
