Water spots on my black leather couch?

Question:I have a black leather couch I bought about two years ago. I've noticed over time that the back of the couch seems to be getting spots all over it, that look kind of like water spots. I've tried leather cleaner, conditioner, everything, but nothing seems to work? Any ideas? here's a picture for you to see what it looks like:

Answers:
If your leather scratches or absorbs moisture you have an aniline style leather and the 'spots' on the back are probably natural markings in the leather which are coming through because the rest of it is fading. This is certainly what it looks like from the photograph.

These are not water spots and there is nothing that will 'clean' these off as they are in the leather itself so using all sorts of things will not help. You would be best advised to call a qualified leather specialist in your area to have a look as there are very good aniline restoration products on the market which will help get the colour back into the leather.

Hope this helps
