Does anybody have any tips for organizing a teen bathroom?

Question:My bathroom is a mess with all of my jewelry, make-up, hair things, etc. Does anybody have any tips on how I could organize it?

Answers:
Well, I don't know how your bathroom is set up. Do you have a vanity mirror with storage space behind? I have that, and I sort my stuff by things for my teeth, things for my face, things for my hair, etc. I'm talking bottles of mouthwash, toothpaste, lotion, face cleanser, hairspray, etc. Then I also have a cabinet under my sink, and it's just one big space, no shelves. I have bought myself these smaller plastic three drawer things that I got at Target, and I used one side for things like medicines, pills in one drawer, creams in another, band-aids and the like in a third one. I use a plastic basket on top of the drawer for things that are too big to fit in the drawers. The other three drawer thing has hair stuff in one, brushes and combs, showercap; things for my teeth in another one, like an extra toothbrush, dental floss, etc. and the third drawer has nail files, nail clippers, etc. I have a nice looking bag for all my makeup and that just stands next to the sink, as does my cup with my toothbrush in it, and my liquid hand soap.

I don't know how much space you have, but you could get one of those shelves that goes over the back of the toilet maybe, and organize that with little plastic containers or baskets, one for each type of thing, one for jewelery, one for hair clips and hair bands and one for makeup and nailpolish, etc. Hide away things you don't want people to see, and show off the fun things that you use on a daily basis. Make sure everything is accessible if you use it a lot, but don't put it somewhere where you'll make a mess. I'm thinking, don't put tall bottles on the shelf behind little baskets of hair things and jewelery, because then when you grab the bottle, you could accidentally swipe the basket and end up with a mess on the floor. Put the bottles on a separate shelf. To make things more fun, you could get plain, simple plastic containers and use stickers to decorate them in your style, maybe use stick on letters to tell you what is in there. Bottom line, have fun with it.

If you think you have a lot of things you don't use, like makeup and jewelery, and hair accessories, it might be fun to invite a friend over, to go through what you have and to let her see if there is anything she likes and wants to take home, and you could do a makeover sorta with your stuff, not just your bathroom, but the two of you as well. That way it would be more fun than if you have to sort through everything on your own. Good luck.

grab a hand grenade, pull pin, throw in bathroom
Take everything out and toss whatever you don't need first. Then, put like things together. (For instance, all nail items) (Makeup you hardly ever use)(Lotions) I bought clear shoe boxes to put each catagory in and with a labelmaker or permanent marker, label them. Also, if you have drawers, look to see what you have and then buy drawer seperators. (They are really inexpensive.) Staying organized is then really easy!
It depends on you budget. You can put your make up in a kabutool or baskets. Use hanging baskets to put you jewelry in. you can also use the plastic canvas to put your ear rings in and hang it on the wall.
Sort and put away things in the medicine cabinet or drawers. If you do not have these consider buying a few organizers.

For Cosmetics:
You get specific ones for cosmetics that you can keep on counter top. Check linen n things or container store

For small bottles:
You could install small clear glass shelves like the ones sold in Ikea, under the mirror and above the sink. This can hold a lot of your bottled cosmetics, tubes, perfumes and shampoos etc.

For jewelry:
Get a good jewelry box with drawers to sort them out.
