Do you allow kids to wear shoes in the house?

Question:Do you make guests take off their shoes? What do you normally walk around in? What do you guests wear? (i.e. socks, barefoot, slippers, shoes, etc...)

Answers:
No shoes in my house! I actually have the same mat as MJ
"Remove Thy Shoes". I have a baby that plays with toys in the floor and crawls around. We have hard wood floors and some carpet. I usually wear socks but my 6 yr. old and husband are usually bare foot. Because we don't wear shoes in the house, we can wear new white socks all around the house and they would still be snow white. Try that test in a home where people wear their shoes!
Note: We do not have shoes piled up at the door. We enter through the garage door and take them off in there before we ever come in.

Even though I don't wear my shoes in my house, I'm not anal about whether or not guests do or don't take theirs off.
I DONT let guests take off their shoes.I and the guests wear shoes or slippers.Yes i let kids wear shoes in the house.
my mom only lets guests wear shoes
not me nor my brother or my dad. Unless the guests are staying with us for a few days then yea they have to wear their socks around the house
I am currently in Kuwait and it is the custom that people take their shoes off when they enter the room.

Normally their are flip-flops for people to put on when they enter the kitchen or bathroom.

I grewup in a house where we hardly ever took our shoes off inside, except when they were really messy.

It is interesting to note in you wear you shoes in the house it may look clean, by feases is getting all other the floor. So it is not good to walk bare foot in a house where people walk with their outside shoes.
We don't make people take their shoes off before coming into the house.

I hate seeing a pile of shoes right when I walk in a house!

I usually take my shoes off right when coming ito my own house, but I immediately take them to my room. I usually go around barefoot inside, but I don't leave my shoes by the door.
Of course I allow shoes. It's a home, whatever people are comfortable in.
Kids of no kind wear shoes in the house whether they are guests or not they usually end removing their shoes anyway. My husband and I either wear socks or house shoes just not shoes that we wear outside. Adult guests are not asked to take off their shoes. This is my way of answering, hope it helps.
I would because when I where shoes in the house it feel real comfortable but when they do they might have been in the mud or somthing dirty. So there are ps andowns to this question
We don't allow kids in the house.
if they did not wear shoes in the house their feet would get dirty. yes
I would rather someone wore their shoes in my house than go barefoot or just wear socks.

You have oils in your feet which stain a carpet much more rapidly than shoes! I just keep a good rug at the front door.
we do make us and our guests take their shoes off before they get in the house.. we ask them politely but are not anal if they don't..
we have white/beige carpets in our apartment and are trying to keep it as clean as possible so that they won't fine us when our lease is up. My parents did the same thing so it's a habit.
The bottom of shoes traps in mud and other debris and sometimes when it gets on the carpet, is hard to get out...
it's okay for our guests to wear shoes in the kitchen, since it's easy to mop, but I prefer keeping our carpet fresh.
I don't mind if guests wear shoes as long as they aren't high heels because I have hardwood floors and If they do wear shoes I prefer they stay out of the room with the white carpet but if they don't I don't get upset.

I walk around barefoot, most people see my floors and take off their shoes without me saying a word though.
Kids in general should NOT WEAR SHOES AT ALL. They are bad for the proper formation of their feet.
If I were to have anyone come into a household with a concern about wearing shoes, then I would provide them with "keepable" slides or collapsible shoes. This goes for children as well. Personally, I wipe my shoes off before I enter someone's home. Out of pure respect. I don't ever go anywhere with sloppy mud or debris from the street hanging onto my clothing. Ditto for obscene gestures and language, which is just totally out of place. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. Psalm 68:19. Peace and Love.
I've heard that it is better to wear shoes than walk around bare foot, because the oils on our feet wear the carpet down a lot more than dirt...and dirt is a lot easier to clean.
everyone wears shoes at my house i really always wear socks or im barefoot but my guest dont take off their shoes but they do at times if they want im not picky like that
OK this is my own personal observation on this. For some reason this is something that I have thought about a LOT.

Really poor people and upper class people wear shoes in the house. I am talking trashy people and then people who make $150 plus.

Most of the people I know are middle class people and we work hard for what we have. Everyone takes their shoes off when they come to the door. I don't have to ask. If a kid comes in and doesn't take them off, I ask.

A family friend was house sitting for a doctor and she took her shoes off at the door and he was insulted. He said in a very condescending tone "IF you are going to take your shoes off in the house, PLEASE wear house slippers" She was soo embarrassed. She thought she was being polite.

I have white carpet!
i don't make guests take their shoes off but i always tell kids to because kids arent as alert as to what they step in
Kids are not allowed to wear shoes in my house. In fact no one is allowed to wear shoes in my house. There is a pile of shoes at the door that is a clear indication that no shoes are allowed. When my kids have friends over most will take their shoes off with my kids. A few have come over and my daughter will tell them "you have to take your shoes off in my house it is my moms rule." As far as regular guests my friends and repeat visitors know about the rule so they kick their shoes off without any disscussion. For first time visitors many will see the pile or my new sign and take their shoes off. Only a few people have I actually had to say "could you just take off your shoes we do the no shoes in the house thing around here." When people take off their shoes they either walk around in socks or barefeet. My kids and I usually wear socks around the house. Whenever I go to someone elses house the first thing I do is take off my shoes. If they say anything I just tell them that it is the rule in my house. That way if they come to visit they will remember my rule.

Hope this helps
I don't let anyone wear shoes in my house. They track in fecal matter, sand (which will scratch my wood floors) water and other stuff I prefer not to have in my house. I even have a sign outside that says "Please Romove Thy Shoes". I allow socks or bare feet for guests and they respect that. My shoe rack is right next to the door with a chair for convenience.
No shoes in my house. I walk around in my sock feet all the time. Guests go in socks or bare feet.
