How do I get rid of Poison Ivy on Down Comforter?
Question:My husband keeps getting poison ivy and we are cleaning everything! I don't know what to do about a down comforter though, because it is made with feathers. Any good advice would be most helpful. Thanks!

I don't think it's on your blanket, if it was, you would break out too. Go to the pharmacy and buy him some TECHNU outdoor skin cleanser. It removes the oils that cause the itch and rash. and decontaminates laundry, as well. I got this for my hubby who is a surveyor and it works well.
Take it to the laundry mat and use a big washer. Wash with your normal soap on warm/cold rinse. You can use fabric softener. Then, to dry, tumble low with a canvas shoe or tennis ball or 2 and terry cloth towels, 2 of them. The towels help absorb the wettness and the balls will fluff the comforter. (Former dry clean operations manager and personal experience. I have an old pair of canvas shoes that I washed and use just for this purpose!)
If you do not want to take the comforter to the dry cleaners then I would suggest to you to spray Lysol (name brand) disinfectant on the comforter and that should take care of the possibility of the poison ivy on the comforter, I highly doubt that it has penetrated to the feathers because of the thread count per square inch of the material the comforter.(220- 290 per sq.in.)How does your hubby keep getting poison ivy?does he work in a situation that has him exposed to it? and if so why doesn't he take the necessary precautions so as not to come in contact with it.
