Help cleaning window blinds?
Question:I have white faux wood blinds throughout my house. They get dusty from time to time and it's a b**** cleaning them by hand. Is there are more efficient way to get them clean without resorting to a moist towel and wiping them down by hand?

Have I got one for you! yes there is an easier way-- If you have a whirl- pool tub- take them down and put in the whirlpool tub and let the water whirl ( gently) for a few minutes. This cleans all the dust and they come out sparkling clean. I put about 1/2 cup of clorox in the water before turning on-- If you do not have a whirl pool tub this can be done by just putting them in the bath tub with water and clorox and using a soft bristle bath room brush for a few minutes--turn them over and take out to dry. They will be as clean as new!
Not really. Close the blinds and wipe down from top to bottom and go all the way across. Then, put the blinds in the other direction and wipe from bottom to top going all the way across. That is the shortest way.
There is such a thing as a "blind wand" you can get from most major retailers...It has "fingers" that reaches between each Louvre for easier cleaning. You can also get a spray cleaner with the wand if you like moist dusting...
Yep - change shower head to hand held with hose. put two small nails just at the top edge of your shower surround just far enough apart to hold your smallest blinds (long side of shower not the ends). Hang the blinds from the nails and hose them off with the shower head on the hose. Works great for guys who hate that job.
I HATE CLEANING BLINDS!! But that's about all of our options. I have a "6-finger" blind brush for dusting, but the vacuum works about as well. I inherited a nasty kitchen window blind, and finally used hot water and vinegar with a spash of detergent to clean them.
I put mine in a tub of hot oapy water with just a few drops of bleach. I let them soak for about half an hour then I use the shower head to spray them down with fresh hot water and lay them out side to dry. They are beautifully clean when I hang them back up. Then in between washes, I use a small brush attachment for my vacuum hose to go through and take the dust off. :)
