How can I restore a woolen sweater thathas shrunk?

Question:its 100% wool, I have tried to stretch it, tried to give it to a very so big guy to expand it all in vain!

Any rightful and meaning suggestions out there?

Answers:
Unfortunately, the shrinkage that occurs in wool is not reversible. The structure of wool fiber is largely responsible for this. The outside of wool fibers are covered with overlapping scales that run in one direction, much like the shingles on a roof. Wool shrinkage occurs when these scales become interlocked from exposure to moisture and agitation, such as during the washing process. Once interlocked, the scales cannot be released due to their physical structure. Attempts to forcefully stretch shrunken wools can weaken and damage the fabric.
A possible exception to the above information is in the case of a wool sweater. Due to the flexible knit structure of sweaters, you may be able to gain a little size back by blocking the sweater (if the shrinkage is not too severe). To block the sweater, gently hand wash in cool water and squeeze out the water. Roll in one or two towels to remove additional moisture. Then lay the sweater out to dry. When you lay out the sweater, try to restore the original shape and size by stretching and smoothing.

I hope this was helpful,Take Care! :)

yeaaahh... i think you need to cut your loses with this one and go buy a new sweater. sorry!
I hate to say this, but once it has been shrunk, there's no hope. Especially since all that stretching hasn't worked. All you can do is give it to someone smaller.
you stupid cc girls and now shut up
There isn't much you can do. It might help a little to get it wet and stretch it out. Let it air dry in the stretched out position. If it's very shrunken this won't help. If it's just a little shrunken that might do the trick. If it's really small you might consider giving it to a child or using it as a doggy sweater.

You have to be very careful with wool. It shrinks very easily. Make sure you read the tag before you wash wool or silk.
On our computers we have "System Restore" which can save the day on many occasions by correcting our mistakes...
But unfortunately, we don't have that same luxury on our washing/dryer machines...
in your case, what's done is done!
Sadly, no...

There is now way to make it right again...

My husband shrunk my Jones New York wool dress (vintage) AND my dove grey wool Club Monaco catsuit (also vintage!)...this way...I could've cried, honestly!

I tried to stretch them and all sorts...and was told by the dry cleaners that there was no hope and it was a loss...

wish I had better news!
A saleperson told me once it could be done with a steam iron. Make sure there is alot steam and stretch the sweater out as you go along. My cleaners did it for me and it worked.
