Rubber Bath Mat Mold and Mildew Removal
If you'd rather not spend your bathroom cleaning time scrubbing mold and mildew from your bath mat, be sure to hang it after each use. If your bath mat has become a victim of mold and mildew, you have several recourses. You can wash it in the washing machine (cold or warm water please, and don't put it in the dryer!) or you can use Borax to clean and disinfect. Sprinkle it on and scrub it off. Keeping the mat as dry as possible between uses is the key to mold and mildew prevention.=)
Just get a new one, they are really not that expensive.
bleach it
water
as cheap as they are, fire that one into the trash and go get a new one...simple...good luck
if your talking about the mat outside the shower through it in the wash. If your talking about the one inside the shower use what is called the works. That stuff will clean anything and you dotn have to bust your a$% doing it
Scrubbing it! With bleach or any domestic cleaner. Good old fashioned elbow grease!
I would use a soaking solution of colour safe bleach or napisan if its not white but if it's white then use some neat bleach in a bucket of water then wash as usual.
buy new
Put it in the bathtub upside down and fill with bleach to cover it for about 30 minutes...You will have to scrub a little but it should come clean again.
To clean bath mat , I use the works for toilets first; cover the mat make sure you get both sides then let it set for about an hour then with rubber gloves and a scratcher rub it clean then rinse very well
You can use, Borax and Baking soda to scrub your mat clean, this will also remove mildew.
White Vinegar and Baking soda and scrub your mat, just pour on a little vinegar and sprinkle baking soda all over your mat and scrub with a nylon scrubber or brush wait for five minutes then rinse with hot water
Good Luck !
wELL, YOU CAN USE hEAT OR WATER
WHICH ONE DO U PREFER??
I SUGGEST BOTH
wash it and dry it. i do this regularly to mine. never had a problem. just make sure not to over dry it, the rubber backing will get messed up.
vinegar & baking soda really srub it good with a cleaning brush.
I throw mine in the washing machine with my shower curtain and the bath mat that sits outside of the tub. I use homemade laundry soap (1c washing soda, 1c borax, 2c grated soap...you use 1-2tbsp per load) Then I just hang them all up to dry, ideally outside in the sun to kill any lingering mildew. The suction cups on the bottom help scour the shower curtain, and everything comes out really clean. I try for 1-2 times a month. That way I'm killing all mildew and mold at one time. Good luck!!
