It's that time of year for cookin and cleaning?

Question:I have a good BBQ grill, but I need to clean it and have no idea what to use, I am kind of one of those do it yourself people and I have a thing about cleaning up and re-useing things that are still usefull. The stainless steel that is on top is in need of a good polishing (I mean I want it to shine)is there a way to do this without a grinder and a polishing wheel. and also what kind of paint can I use to get it good and black again. is motor paint like the kind you spray on headers ok or is there something more specific out there just for grills. and finally were to get a new grill piece. so my food dont get all rusty from the crap that is on it right now. thanks.

stainless steel treatment at lowe's, specially for grills, they have grill paint, and replacement racks
