How do you do the laundry?
Question:Once again my mom is on a trip and i wanna make the house clean. My mom really has a lot of Lanudry and i wanna help her do it can you give me so tips or anything!
Answers:
do a basic sorting. sort towels from sheets, sweatshirt materials, colors & whites.
if u have enough do separate if not you could toss towels & sheets together. but definately dont put towels in w/ clothes or sweatshirt materials w/ clothes.
Do a little look for anything new & brightly colored--it can fade on other clothes, people call it bleed, liike a new red shirt or pair of new blue jeans--everyhting will turn blue!
any fancy clothes check labels to see if u need to take to cleaners, or have mom do it when she getsa home.
otherwise, just toss in w/ the detergent fill the cup, also if liquid fabric softener, pur that in the ;ittle spinny thing on top. if a dryer sheet then u dont worry until its time to put in the dryer, then toss one in the dryer. this helpsd so not staticy--& gies a nice bonus smell.
but thats it, your pretty much ok, using same settings for the laundry warm should be fine. thats all i use. sometime si use hot if im washing blankets or towels, the hot is better to kill germs, but not good on most clothes, it can shrinken, & just not look good. so
GOOD LUCK, just separate & throw in, its not that hard--wanna know the hard part--PUTTING THEM AWAY!!!!!Thats my problem! Also your a GREAT kid to have & help out--good 4 you!
have a friend do it for you WOW grteat idea
use a washing machine, you might ruin her clothes if you do it by hands.
sort colors , whites and delicates used one cup of soap powder per load and start and dont over load it will take along time to dry
why did she leave you alone in the house if you can't even do laundry? how old are you?
it's nice to help her, but this is something you should have learned a long time ago...
separate the colors and white. open the washer. put the clothes in. measure out the detergent (read the label), pour it in. lose the lid, and put the cycle on warm. that's the safest temp. start it up. after, put a dryer sheet in the dryer, and make sure that you remove things that shouldn't be dried, such as sweaters, bras, etc. then put everything else in and turn the dial to the setting you want. turn it on. repeat the cycles with the other loads...
sort your clothes first whites with whites on hot or warm water colors with colors on warm or cold water use 1 cup of detergent and only use bleach with the whites you will add 1 cup of bleach with 1 cup of detergent fill the washer up with water and your detergent before adding the clothes for the best results don't put to many clothes in at 1 time or your clothes will not become clean and it can tear up the machine
What a nice kid! You will make your mom very happy!
Okay... so just separate the colors from the whites (I usually sepate towels from there too) into piles the size of a load. Set everything to cold cycle. Put in your capful or scoopful of detergent. Add softener if you have a dispenser or downy ball. Put in the clothes and close the lid. Put them in the dryer when washed, on high heat. I like the timeddry, but I dont know what kind of setting you have. Heres a hint, fold it as soon as it get dry, it will fold better, stack neater and not be as wrinkled. Good luck!
You sound like a really good kid.
TAKE IT IN YOUR LIVING ROOM, AND MAKE PILES WITH THE WHITES AND COLORS AND TOWELS. MAKE THE BED IN A ROOM AND AS THE LOADS COME OUT OF THE DRYER PILE THEM ON THE BED, START ANOTHER LOAD AND GO FOLD THE LOAD ON THE BED. MAKE PILES WITH THE FOLDED CLOTHES SORTED BY COLORS, UNTIL YOU HAVE ABOUT 4 LOADS DONE, THEN START ANOTHER LOAD IN THE WASHER AND DRYER AND START PUTTING AWAY THE LAUNDRY. KEEP THIS ROUTINE UP AND YOU WILL BE DONE IN NO TIME. DO OTHER CHORES WHILE WAITING FOR THE LOADS TO FINISH. EVENTUALLY THE HEAPS OF CLOTHES WILL START GOING DOWN AND YOU WILL START SEEING RESULTS, THE KEY IS TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE FOLDING AS THEY COME OUT OR YOU WILL END UP WITH PILES OF CLEAN CLOTHES, AND IT WILL BE OVER WHELMING. SO BASICALLY HAVE A LOAD IN THE DRYER ONE IN THE WASHER AND ONE ON THE BED BEING FOLDED. I HAD PILES OF LAUNDRY LAST WEEKEND (ABOUT 10 LOADS) AND I DID THIS AND IT WORKED OUT GOOD, PLUS YOU CAN'T GO TO BED WITH A PILE OF CLOTHES ON YOUR BED. TIME AND PATIENCE IS THE KEY, GOOD LUCK! ITS EASY AND THAT WILL ALSO MAKE YOU MOM VERY VERY HAPPY.
First- check the care labels on each item and put aside EVERY item that says handwash or dryclean. Do NOT wash lingerie or bras or pantyhose. Those items get destroyed in the washer.
Sort colors= darks, whites, etc. I usually have a ton of wash so I sort out the reds and the greys/light blues as well. With each load put in one capfull of detergent. Set the washer to an appropriate temperature and load size. The darker the clothes- the colder the water.
If you use liquid fabric softener it goes in the center hole in the washer- one capful. If you use bleach (whites only- absolutely no colors, stripes or anything elses) it MUST go in the little hole on the side under the lid of the washer. NEVER pour bleach on clothing.
If you use dryer sheets- place one per load in the dryer. Cotton clothing is good on high heat. Be sure not to dry any items marked "hang to dry" or "lay flat to dry". Seperate items marked "tumble dry low" and put them in at low heat.
Remove items IMMEDIATELY after the dryer stops. Fold and hang. Iron if necessary.
Organize clothes by colors:
bright colors, whites, colors, delicates (like wool, some polyesters, fine cloths - read labels if you're unsure what to do)
Wash together with same colors by temperature:
colors that have been washed a few times: warm
bright whites: hot
bright colors or new clothes: cold
If you're unsure it's always fine to just use cold water - saves lots of energy too!
Schlep it to the washing machine
Select the nomal or regular cycle for cottons on the dial. Most clothes will be fine with this cycle. Delicates for delicates clothes, etc.
Select temperature and the water level (enough to cover the clothes a bit). (usually turn the dial and pull out to start water going)
Measure detergent - read label for amount - usually around half the cap for a medium load (half the machine full) A little more or less for larger/smaller loads or dirtier/cleaner loads. Put detergent in to the water first to mix it with water for a minute or two.
Throw in the laundry by color - make sure you have enough water. Twist to reset select higher level if you need more.
Close lid.
When it's done, pull out clothes & put in dryer - or preferably hang outside if you have a clothes line to save energy & greenhouse gasses. Clothes dryers use a LOT of energy in a house. If you use the dryer - cottons can go on the normal, hot cycle, delicates and other things
Take em out and fold em.
Leave yourself time and do something to hang around while you're waiting. I like movies.
Have fun.
Laundering instructions:
To whiten whites:
Add one cup of Hydrogen Peroxide to a load of whites and wash as normal.
For items already yellowing mix a quarter cup of Cascade in a bucket of hot, hot water soak the garments in the mixture to whiten whites.
Try not to over dry white items. Use a lower temperature setting as the higher settings can yellow whites.
Also, some liquid fabric softeners can cause yellowing in white fabrics if not rinsed out well.
To brighten colors:
Using either regular detergent with the addition of color safe bleach, or a bleach alternative included in the detergent, add either 1 cup of Vinegar or 2 cups of Vodka to a load of colors and wash as normal.
For your Jeans:
Do not use color safe bleach, or any detergent with a bleach alternative. Instead use a regular detergent and add 1/2 cup of Borax to a load of jeans, and wash as normal. Your jeans colors will be brighter and prevent fading.
When laundering jeans turn them inside out for both the washing and drying. Be sure not to over dry as this will cause fading.
As far as stain removal:
Try Sugar Paste: Sugar Paste, made of sugar and water, and allowed to sit for one hour, then wash as usual. This will usually remove anything!!
If sugar paste doesn't work, or you'd rather try something else: One cup of Tide with two cups of White Vinegar. Blot the stain well with this solution, blot with a damp cloth and then blot with solution again, this continuious cycle will allow the oil to be pulled out over a few hours, depending on how much oil was spilled.
Hope this helps.
