How do you wash a feather down comforter?

Question:

Answers:
You don't. They are dry clean only...that said, they can be spot cleaned and tossed in the dryer so they smell nice and pretty.

I think they're dry-clean only...
I put it in the washing machine with regular detergent. When I put it in the drier, i add clean towels and drier balls. This helps speed drying time and break up clumps. I have a quilted comforter.
you don't, dry clean only. or i guess you can try that dry cleaning bag for the dryer.
I take it to a laundromat and put it in a double sized washer. Then put it in a commercial dryer and give the feathers lots of time to dry. It will come out fresh and fluffy! Dry cleaners cost $50. or more.
I recommend washing it in a large front-load washing machine - like the ones that can be found at a laundromat. A top load machine with an agitator is more likely to catch such a large item, and displace some of the stuffing.

As mentioned above, use drier balls to gently agitate the comforter during the drying process. This will help to spread the stuffing out more equally during the drying.
It depends on what type of down it is filled with. The super expensive eider -downs are to my knowledge the warmest, unless they get wet which can happen if you are out camping in your sleeping bag. So I choose a less expensive, but more durable feather combination. Yes, you have a down comforter and not a sleeping bag. Do not get it wet, because in the case of eider-duck down, it loses about 80% of its insulation value. Dry clean only! - and only with a dry-cleaner you trust. Try to find one that doesn't contract it out. Do they wash it on site?
As far as I know you either need to have it dry cleaned, or if you have a front loading washer with a delicate cycle you can put it in there, with a little bit of laundry soap and set on non spin, Dry on a low setting also.
