What is the best way to get rid of the smell of a skunk?

Question:

Answers:
Try a can of tomatoe sauce with some garlic and a little detergent for clothes. Put in a little toothpaste(with a baking soda base) instead of detergent for yourself or animals.

wash the area with tomato juice
TOMATO JUICE!! (I think.)
Tomato Juice
You have two choices plus an endgame:

1) Chemically grab the thiols. The red color of tomatoes, lycopene, is especially good at this. The most concentrated source of lycopene is tomato paste. Rub it in voluminously. Lycopene stains. Bleach mostly gets it out.

2) Oxidize the thiols. Pharmacy USP hydrogen peroxide is good. Peroxycarbonate bleaches like Kaboom are better. Chlorine bleach is very good indeed - but it is corrosive, desotroys biological tissue, and ruins fabrics.

3) And, of coursre, clean up afterward. Wash with detergent and rinse thoroughly. Keep out of eyes and away from mucus membranes.
soak in tomatoe juice. It works. of course wash after the soak
It depends on what smells like a skunk. If it is a dog- make a shampoo using equal parts baking soda, peroxide and Dawn dishsoap. When mixing it, first add the baking soda, then the peroxide. Let it dissolve then add the Dawn and mix well. This works well on pets, so it might work to wash clothing in it, too.
