there is a chemical to spray that is odorless called CYPER WP insecticide you can buy it at a pest control place or have them come and spray it but it does work in 3 months do it again. but you have to keep your place clean of all food and drinks and newpapers even paperbags from the grocery store they eat that paper and live off all crumbs or anything left out even a dirty microwave will keep them healthy. clean clean and clean they will not have anything to eat and will leave or die from the poison.
Don't get roaches in the first place.

Your apartment management should be responsible for pest control. If you see roaches, you should call and have them spray every two weeks until they are gone. You can also use those foggers they sell at any store and be sure you keep your kitchen clean and trash empty and clean.
If you live on the ground level, you will always see a stray bug from time to time so keept some spray handy. and spray your door and window openings.
