Tumble Dryers make me feel sick?

Question:Whenever I'm in a room with a tumble dryer or a laundrette, I get a headache and feel really ill. Why is this?

Answers:
Possible because they dehydrate the air! Always leave a window open!Or do as I do, dry things outside on a line!

stop watching them go round
the noise or the smell of detergent
perhaps one attacked you when you was young
the small particles of cotton in the air block up your nose and you may be getting an allergic reaction
Maybe your inner ear is particularly snsitive to the low rumble/white noise they make.

Inner ear disturbance tends to cause nausea on car and plane journeys and maybe for you this low level disturbance also causes the nauseating reaction?
Put your clothes in the dryer and close the door while standing OUTSIDE the dryer. If you remain in there with the clothes the tumbling action is like a wild ride at the fair. It causes motion sickness!
Most of the answers you are getting, are NOT taking you seriously. Do you have a gas or electric dryer? If you have gas, please check for leaks. It's a silent killer and the symptoms you are presenting could be from a gas leak. If you have electric or if this happens everywhere you go, yes it may be from lint or other allergens in the air related to laundromats. My best advice would be to check for leaks and if this is not a problem, see a Dr. Best Wishes!
First check for carbon monoxide and gas leaks, if it's a gas dryer. If you're at the laundrette, you need to let the owner know so that he can have the equipment checked for the same reason. You could be allergic to the soap or fabric softener you are using.
Please call your doctor as you could have a serious problem.
The way you worded your question makes it seem that this happens to you around any dryer. I, too, would agree with all the points made, from an allergic reaction, to sound & chemical sensitivities (the latter in particular because of some of the nasty petrochemicals that are put in fabric softeners in particular, as well as a sensitivity to gas fumes.)

One other thought though, is if they are the type where you actually get to see the clothes tumble, it may be a visual motion disturbance. For instance, people with Epilepsy can go into seizures from the flicker rate in computer games. Others affected without epilepsy can get a state of motion sickness.

Do check your personal residence, in case a gas leak and if not, certainly don't be afraid or ashamed to bring this up to your physician. Best of luck!
My best guess is that when you were young someone put you in the dryer and you went for a ride!!!
Stay out of them and you'll be fine.
