My drapes say dry clean, what will happen if I just wash them?
Question:
Answers:
Probably nothing,,,depending on the fabric. Watch out for shrinkage!!!
shrinking
Well if you wash them in cold water they might be okay, but I think they might shrink, best take them to the dry cleaner´s
you will ruin them it happened to me years ago ,unless you want to change them it's up to you . I rather buy fabric that I can wash myself now!
They could -
1] shred
2] shrink
3] shrink at different rates, so liner and drape are not same size - they will be 'bunchy'.
If you do decide to wash the, use cold water, gentle cycle, gentle detergent, and look up fabric composition for drying.
I HAVE washed 'dry clean only drapes', but only if I could afford to replace them.
wash them on a wool wash this way it is a slow wash & will not spin as hard so's not to shrink them.
I do this with mine & they come out just fine.
I do not iron or nothing like that, I just hang them back up while damp & the weight or the drapes basically pulls out any creases.
Nothing will hapen if you wash them in cold and in the gentle cycle.
