Hi, speaking from my own experence, i bought a I.F.B. fully automatic. It works well on heavy and light clothes.is not complicated to handle.They have good after sale service too.You hardly need to call them.Ihave 2 other appliances of the same brand no trouble at all.
If u have continuous water supply. go for fully automatic
Depends where you live. Semi is cheaper than fully auto. If you do not have continuous flowing water in your tap then go for semi, because you can operate it by filling with buckets for both the wash and spin cycles, whereas for fully auto you require continuously flowing water. If you have big electrical or electronic stores in your area like Next, Croma, Vijay Sales, Sony Mony or even Big Bazaar, they all have a good selection of brands and the salespeople are very willing to explain what is what.
buy a automatic washing machine. but use it as semiautomatic throughout year, when it was cloudy / rainy season use it fully AUTOMATIC ... for using dryer on that time

If there is no water problem u can prefer automatic.If there is water problem then u prefer semiautomatic.
If the water supply isn't a problem then I suggest go for a fully automatic and IFB is the brand to vouch for, but they are at a higher price end but you will not regret it.
But if you have a back problem then go for top loading machine like whirlpool which is cost effective but the agitator in it can at times make the things a little messy as the larger clothes get entangled in it.
Alternatively you can go for LG topload for a hassle free cost effective washing.
ps toploading machines take a little more water than front load
If you dont have continuous water flow then semi automatic would be a better bet.
