My dining room chairs smell strongly of wood smoke. How can I get rid of this horrid smell.?
Question:We had a barb-e-que and I brought out our dining room chairs for extra seating. We lit a fire on the evening and now my chairs smell very strongly of wood smoke.
Any ideas how I can kill this smell. It is transferring onto our clothes.
Thanks
Answers:
I would try cleaning the wood parts of the chairs with Murphy's Oil Soap, and I would use a good quality leather cleaner on the leather seat cushions. Or, you could contact one of the companies that specialize in removing smoke odors from carpets, furniture, clothing, etc. after a fire. They may be willing to give you some free advice. You won't know unless you ask.
there is a spray called unsmoke or it may come in liquid form.
can get it at home depot or lowes.
what material are the chairs,?
try a lot of baking soda on them dry. If that doesn't do the job, try spraying them with lysol Basin, tub and tile cleaner. FOAM. Do not wet the cushions. set them in the sun after you wiipe the cleaner off.Repeat if neccesary
Try Febreze.
vinegar really helps taking off any smell.spraying the chair with vinegar should help.
if you have a Sams Club in your area they sell this stuff called Odo Ban, it is my favorite!!! I have even used it to remove cat odor.
Recipe:
1/2 cup Parson's sudsy amonia
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/8 cup baking soda
1 gal warm water
After my house burned, but mostly was smoked, everybody told me I'd have to replace everything. The recipe took care of everything, including this computer.
