Take 1 tablespoon of tide, or whatever detergent you use, and mix it with 1 cup of water. Now whip it up and take a sponge and try to use the suds, so as you don't get the mattress soaking wet. Then blot with paper towel. Now take a 1/2 cup of white vinegar and blot it on the spot, now you will get it soaked, blot with paper towel, use a hair dryer to dry, or leave until it dries on its own. The vinegar is a odor eater and will remove the odor.
Febreze is a fabric freshener. I use it when my 3 year old has an accident and it works pretty good,

treat the area immediately with soda water which should minimise the staining. Once the excess urine has been blotted up, sponge the stain with salty water and then rinse and blot dry.
Again, sprinkling bicarbonate soda onto the stain and leaving for a while before vacuuming should combat any lingering odours.
