Answers:
I have a 3 year old boy with severe breathing conditions:
Wet a hand towel and wipe them off vigorously until clean, wet as needed to keep dust down.
Afterwards put old Womans nylons over the blades, this will not hurt any fan as nylons weigh nothing.
When you are expecting company or guests, remove the nylons exposing new looking and CLEAN blades.
The nylons can be washed and reused when they get dusty.
I clean my ceiling fan a few times a year and I use pinesol and bleach and hot water in a bucket it takes a bit of time because you need to use a latter but it has a great result. Good luck.
For the first time in spring, I take a washcloth that's really wet, and wipe down all the blades. The dust doesn't fly away b/c the washcloth is wet, and you get it all off. From that point on, you can dust it regularly with one of those swiffer or endust dusters, that come with the refils, that's what I use also and they work good.
But not if it's REALLY dusty, then you should definitely use a washcloth or small towel, nice and wet, then just dry the blades and you're good to go:)
