How do you get the smell of cigar out of fabric.?
Question:I got this beautiful couch and it has this horrible smell of cigar, I washed what I could in the washer and Fabrezed the rest and I have had a fan on it for 2 days but it is still ther not as strong.
Answers:
Rent a steam cleaner and deep-clean the upholstery of the couch. As well, lay it on it's back and clean the underside and Febreeze that too. Take off all the cushions and do them separately, and clean the base fabric underneath. Really get into the crannies, because that's where the odor lingers.
Sometimes sprinkling with a carpet deodorizer (not a perfumed one, just a deodorizer) and frequent vacuuming can help. But the odors of smoking can linger for a LONG while, so be prepared to continually do this.

I use this product called Odo-Ban. You get it from Sam Club by the gallon and dilute it into a spray container. It is absolutely the best deoderizer I have ever used and also the most cost effective.
It will get rid of smoke smells, pet smells, just about anything. My husband smokes and I spray it in our car. you wouldn't even notice anyone smokes in it the minute you spray it. One gallon will last you a couple years. Good luck!

To remove offensive odors from clothing: use either one cup of Vinegar or two cups of Vodka in your wash cycle, along with your usual detergent. This will not damage dark colored clothes (my uniforms pants are dark blue), and will actually boost your usual detergent's ability to clean, as well as help remove tough stains!! The Vodka will neutralize any smell!
To remove offensive odors from furniture and rugs: make a solution of 3 parts Vinegar to 7 parts water, pour in a spray bottle and spritz the area. Make a solution of 1 part Vodka to 3 parts water in a trigger spray bottle, spray the area and let dry. The Vodka will neutralize any smell!
