How do you whiten shower tile grout and keep it white?
Question:
Answers:
Instead of tile and grout cleaners I simply pour a small amount of Cascade Liquid Dishwasher Detergent all along the grout, and allow to sit for 30 minutes, then wipe with a damp cloth, and poof nice and white!!
Have a nice day!
Very easily. There are two things you can do (the first being the most expensive...!)
1. Go to your local home hardware store. They sell a special product made especially for this. Apply according to instructions.
2. Since grout is a porous substance, it will absorb paint. Get some super white satin or eggshell finish white latex paint (you shouldn't need more than a pint of it unless the shower is huge). Using a small roller (the smallest you can find) apply one coat or two of the paint. While applying the paint, with a damp rag, immediately wipe off the excess paint on the ceramic tile. Let dry between coats and let dry for 24 hours before taking a shower. The latex paint will not come off after.
You won't have to do this again for at least 2 years.
I mist my shower daily with a bleach solution to keep the grout white and prevent mildew. Once a week, I use a bathroom cleaner to sanitize and remove soap scum. I also mist the walls of the shower daily with white vinegar to keep soap scum from building up on them.
Mouthwash...I swear by it. Put it in a spray bottle to clean your shower. Not only will it be gleamy, you'll either have a nice minty or citrusy smell.
