What is the best cleaner for old soap scum in the bathtub?

Get a Clorox Bath Wand. Makes the job easy, no bending, little scrubbing -- but lots of rinsing, it's pretty bubbly. Love it! :-D
Avoid the problem in future by either using body wash instead of bar soap, or each time you bathe, briefly wipe down the walls of the tub with regular soap or shampoo on a scrubbie (the kind you might use to wash yourself with!) or washcloth. It only takes a second while you're in there anyway, and never builds up again.
Or use Clean Shower (once it's off) to keep it from coming back. Finish your bath, spray Clean Shower, walk away. Stays clean.
Mean Green or a brillo pad. They sell mean green at the dollar store or walmart. Really good stuff. I use it for everything.
Try using Soft Scrub or the Old Time favorite Bon Ami with a sponge that has a soft scrubber on one side. You can usually buy a pack of 3 for @ 2 bucks.A little rubbing with the softscrub will have your tub looking brand new.I use this regularly.By the way, brillo pads will scratch any fiberglass surface so the idea here is soft and non-abrasive.Also,my method does not have any aerosol spray or toxic fumes or foul odors.Good Luck.
Kaboom works great for stuff like that. Most likely you have more than just soap scum build up if it's been there awhile. So you need something for the lime, calcium or rust that's built up as well. Kaboom will work on that too. Spray the heck out of it, let it sit a moment and start scrubbing. You may have to scrub it more than once to get through all of it if it's really bad.
I use "Fantastic." It dissolves soap scum and doesn't have any harmful abrasives.
it may sound stupid but
WD40
the many uses of it are
CLEANS: WD-40 gets under dirt, marks and grease making it easy to wipe away. It also dissolves adhesives, allowing easy removal of labels, tape, and stickers
PROTECTS: WD-40 protects metal surfaces with corrosion-resistant ingredients to shield against moisture and other corrosive elements
LUBRICATES: WD-40's lubricating ingredients are widely dispersed and hold firmly to all moving parts
PENETRATES: WD-40 loosens rust-to-metal bonds and frees stuck, frozen or rusted metal parts
DISPLACES MOISTURE: Because WD-40 displaces moisture, it quickly dries out electrical systems to eliminate moisture-induced short circuits. Turn the power off before you spray
i use lime away and a magic soonge, together they work great
