MAYTAG HELP! My Maytag "regular fabric wash" does not work but the "wrinkle free fabric wash" cycle works

Question:There was a burning smell and the "regular fabric" wash just stopped. I tried turning the button in various positions but nothing happened. When I turned the knob to the "wrinkle free fabrics" wash it worked perfectly. Any one knows what the problem is? I would appreciate any help.

yes it sounds like burnt out timer. not hard to replace, unplug washing machine, access the timer, you may have to undo a few screws to gain access. copy down model of washer call local appliance parts store. get new one and install it replace panels screws etc.
