How can I restore my aluminum garlic press and ice cream scoop--all corroded from dish washer?

Question:Basically, these items have gotten trashed by washing them--now I want to restore them. They leave a black/gray residue when I use them.

Answers:
Since they are aluminum, I would strongly suggest throwing them out immediately and replacing with stainless steel.

baking soda.
Vinegar and Baking soda. When mixed together it will foam up and rinse real good. If that does not work WD40.
You can't. Throw them away and buy stainless steel. I have had great luck with products from Pampered Chef, Williams-Sonoma, etc. Go to a kitchen store and make sure to read the label to be sure you don't get aluminum.
I would throw them out, but I also would not put the new ones in the dishwasher. Dishwashers are very hard on utensils.
you may as well wave bye bye, and say hello to new stainless steel. I bought some from pampered chef, and have been in love with them since.
