Question:we just moved into an older duplex. Every time we go out when we come back it smells like mildew. It seems to come from thegarbage disposel. I don't have any soda so what can I do? no lemon either.

Garbage Disposal Smell
Try this to get rid of a bad garbage disposal smell:
Grind up several ice cubes (a couple of trays) in
the disposal.
Flush the disposal with cold water.
Grind up half a lemon in the disposal.
You can grind up any citrus fruit (such as orange or grapefruit) peel to help maintain a pleasant smell.
I thought this might be helpful because you may have another type of citrus fruit. They say cold water is good for grease, never knew that either!
Try bleach. Also, use it daily for the next few days.
Grind up wet newspapers, it absorbes odors.
Try using white vinegar about 1/2 cup, and see if that helps. If you don't have any of that then take something sweet, like vanilla extract,

u can put any citrus peel down the disposal, or try coffee ground, its always worked for me, good luck.
I would suggest on your next trip to the store going out and getting some citrus fruit of some kind. Then grinding it up in your disposal.
