My glassware is showing signs of white clouding from the Dishwasher ! How do I remove or prevent it ?
Question:Its mainly pint glasses, its like a light white shading on the side of the glass..
Anyone know how to get rid of it or for that matter what exactly causes it and how to prevent it?
Answers:
Buy a gallon of white vinager, cut the top off and place the glasses in it one at a time over night. Wash with soap and rinse as soon as you take them out. A lot of trouble, but the glasses will look like new.
You probably have hard water. Get some water softner, and you should be all set.
i mean, your water is not bad to drink, but its just turning your glasses white.
Oh, I had this problem a short time ago. I did change my dishwasher detergent from powder to liquid, that helps now. I was told by the Maytag man that if your water is hard, the clouding is caused by lime build-up. hhhmmmm.our water in the kitchen is hard, so that answers that!
I bought a huge bottle of cheap store brand vinegar and soaked my newly clouded glassware in it for a few hours, turning them every 30 min so all the surface got a good soaking. The I washed by hand in hot soapy water, rinsed in clear hot water, and dried by hand. Took care of it like a charm. Of course some of my lead crystal has taken a beating over the years of dishwasher-ing and that doesn't come off. I usually wash all my "good" glassware by hand anyway, I don't like "spotty" glasses. I do the same for my good china and silver. Hope this helps.
clearly you should wash by hand
Try baking soda. But I don't think it's going to come off.
Dishwasher's are so powerful that they can take the finish off the glass. It's best to wash them by hand if you want them to stay nice.
it can be wear or it can be minerals, if its minerals just use white vinegar on them.
Try jet-dry; it's for the dishwasher.
