Getting rid of stains on my toilet?
Question:I recently had to use a plumbers snake on my toilet and it left marks on the porcelain every where the metal touched. How do I get rid of the marks? I have used bleach but that didn't work.
Answers:
You may have to replace the toilet.
Some marks will not come off.
doodad
any product that contains sulpheric acid will work..
just do not get ot on your skin and rinse well when finished..
try BAM or The Works..
err...maybe you can try vinegar or ammonia?maybe alcohol too
drain the bowl and use "Bar Tenders Friend", it is non abrasive. It is also great for glass stove tops, oven windows and stainless steel.
bleach will not work. You need to get in there and use some elbow grease...get your gloves on then get some pumas stone and go to it..you will be dumping in a clean shiney shitter in no time..
If I was you I would use 409 it is a great cleaning supply.
try a bleach gel after you drain the water out of the toliet.let it sit a while.
Scrubbing with ajax works sometimes
A pair of rubber gloves and some powerd cleanser.
Limeaway is very good. you can find it at a hardwarestore, kmart, home depot (most anywear)
They also sell limeaway in an industrial strenght also for really bad stains. bettyk
wait, why are there dark stains on your toilet bowl?!?
There are pumice stones specifically for the toilet , located in the cleaning isle (with brooms , mops) of your local supermarket.
Sometimes those stains don't come out for a long time, Try taking some comet and when you flush and the water is gone scrub the stains quickly and see what happens. You can Add some ammonia and try that too/.
you can try draining the water out of the bowl, which i know will be difficult and try car compound. i know it takes soot out of porcelain tubs. hopefully you did not scratch the porcelain. good luck
p.s. i am seeing a lot of answers stating to use cleansers, don't. they put fine scratches in porcelain and your toilet will continue to stain on a regular basis. you can try a soft scrub, they are not as abrasive.
first of all did you let the bleach sit it needs time to eat away at the problem. Try some ty-lex it eat any thing given enuff time. Also comet or a-jax they work good on porcelain sinks but the trick is to use a nomal abrasive spung. soft on one side and ruff on the other a nomal toilet brush wont work the spung is stronger belive it or not.. And make sure that the spung has a abrasive scrubby on one side. good luck!
use soft steel wool / sos pads
Try Hydrocloric Acid (Pool Acid)
Try using Baking soda and White Vinegar and scrub with your toilet brush and leave for about twenty five minutes then brush again and flush, your black marks should be gone
If method above does not remove your black marks after using try using a cleanser like Comet or Ajax in your toilet bowl and scrub, or even Bar keepersfriend brand cleansers will work. Good Luck !
