Do you make people take their shoes off before they come into your home? I do.?

Question:I even have a little sign on the front porch that says "Please remove your shoes" and everyone just does it! I just love that no one wears shoes in my house. What about you?

Answers:
When the kids were little it was a must! They would track everything into the house! And we asked adults to take their shoes off also to be fair.

Now if the weather is nice, we usually say "If your shoes are clean, you can leave them on, if not please take them off."No one seems to mind.

And we still make kids take their shoes off. Even as teenagers they will track anything into the house.

And it does make a huge difference in the carpets and dirt in the house. Our carpets are almost 20 years old. They look OK, no great, but we have not needed to replace them yet. And I only need to vacuum about once a week!

Of course I hate to be bare foot so I have indoor shoes and outdoor shoes. I just need to make sure I do not mix them up!

haha yes, I do. always have and always will. love it! lol
No, I don't. But only because my carpets are old and stained. When I get new carpets I will definitely make sure people remove shoes.
No but my friend does and you can tell by looking at the carpet.
dats weird
You know, I'm quite the clean freak and I thought about doing this.
However, I'm scared of people spreading athletes foot or any kind of foot fungus they have on my floor. I think thats worse than a little dirt.
Who says their feet are cleaner than their shoes?
So I swiffer and pine-sol my hard flooring every day.
This is discrimination againt Jews oh I mean Shoes!
Yes I do.
I need that-at least-my little home be cleaner than streets!
Well, I don't make visitors take off shoes, but I do make my family take off there shoes when they come in to the house, it has saved my carpet over the years with this practice and I don't have the fear of some germs walking into my home, nor do I get mud or dirt from people walking in with this on their shoes, less worry and stressing to clean it up, I just can't bring myself to asking vistors who are not family to take off their shoes although some have followed in our footsteps on their own.
If there is visable dirt/mud on the shoes of course take them off however...interesting fact...

the oils from our feet are more difficult to remove from carpet than street dirt...
i problay will cause we just brought a new house and i want to keep my carpet clean. But i don't want to rude or a ***** about it.
yeah my friends and my visitors take off their shoes when they come inside my house. i always have a basket of slippers near my front door. so far i don't have any problems with them.
i have a sign on my door that says please remove shoes, or you can mop the floor. thanks the maid.
i dispise people wearing shoes in the house. my sign works too. i have only made one guy wash the floor so far cause he walked in with his shoes on.
