Why dont irons have on/off buttons??

Question:

Answers:
I don't know what kind of iron you have , but after 45 years married I have never seen a iron without an off and on button.

Irons have the slide switch for the type of fabric you are ironing if you push it all the way to the bottom that is the off position.
usually they have something
So you will not turn them off while adjusting the clothes and mess up the temperature.
And so you will not turn it off and think it is safe to put down anywhere.
Its called pulling the plug out,but it is strange that it cant be switched off in any other way, havent given it much thought before, because all you can do is turn the heat dial down.Quite bad really.
i know what you mean. a simple on off button isnt to much to ask for is it? . turning the dial down etc is a victorian method.my iron is on when i plug it in and off when i un plug it. there is no other way
I can see your in a tough spot! Unfortunatly the industry has not found profitability in making Irons out of super conductors like copper and silver. Also couple the fact that there's so many various fabrics that one almost has to be a professional to mitigate all the panels, drapery and seams! G.L.!
They used too but maybe it is so you will unplug your iron after ironing so it won`t be a hazzardous danger for a fire!
they have them cuz for safety
Well, mine does. maybe yours is a damage
they have its called a plug.
just use the switch on the plug on the wall
mine has one. its the type with the water tank.
I have seen them both ways. It just depends on what the consumer wants I guess as to why this is. But They do sell irons with on/off buttons.
My Iron has an automatic cut out system where as if you leave it face down it turns itself off but I have never found the need to have an on/off button as I plug it in use it and put it bye asap..
