USE A COLOR SAFE BLEACH
if your old enough to be online your old enough to do your own laundry
put half a cup of baking soda in next time you wash it
I think baking soda is good for getting out smells. Like, if your sneakers stink, just sprinkle some baking soda into it. That might work for your football stuff. Just leave baking soda on for awhile, see if it works.
if it's funky like a "sour" kind of smell, like laundry sometimes can get when it's forgotten about in the washer, rewash it like normal, but add a cup of white vinegar to the wash, it comes out smelling fresh and no vinegar smell either.
Try soaking it in straight ammonia before washing. also twenty mule team borax (in the detergent aisle) fabrease is also a quick band aid
I had a similar problem after visiting some relatives who live in absolute filth and stench. Wash the shirt in a medium-sized load of other similar colors, but set the water level to extra large. Use the appropriate amount of laundry detergent for an extra large load (or slightly less). If your washer has an extra long washing time or an extra rinse cycle, use it.
Along with the detergent, put in a bottle or two of hydrogen peroxide and a small bottle of febreze. Yes, febreze, right into the water, the whole bottle. You might even want to stop the washer and let it all soak for about five minutes after it has agitated for a little bit.
Use the normal amount of fabric softener you would for a medium load. Dry as you normally would.
Hope that helps!
my brother has the same problem just use spray n wash on all the smelly areas and it will go away!
if there is a Sams Club near you they sell a great thing called Odo Ban it is awesome it works on my sons football stuff!! even gets out the smell of cat urine!!!!
My husband works out at the gym a lot. His spin class clothes I was with regular laundry soap and use fabric softner liquid and fabric softer sheets when drying briefly, it works.
