When moving into your first apartment...?
Question:did you have everything like furinture, dishes etc., and if not how did you get those things? Or where you brought up with a hope chest (for the ladies) and as time went on you slowing bought those things in hoping that one day you will have your own place.
Answers:
I did have a hopechest. I collected dishes, pictures, that sort of thing. Sign up for freecycle @ freecycle.org. There are alwasy household things on there, your apartment will fill up quickly. Good luck!
I had a couch and a tv. 2 towels, few blankets and 1 pillow and a microwave and ate off paper plates. Friends and family gave me alot of things and you will be surprised at how much you gather...Thrift stores and garage and estate sales are a great place to shop cheap! Don`t worry in 6 mos you will have plenty stuff for your apartment! Add a few easy houseplants to make it look homey!!
You can try your local freecycle. It is amazing what people are getting rid of on there, and it's all free, to keep things out of the landfill.
I was brought up with a hope chest. I also love the dollar store. Until you know what your style is, it is a cheap way to get the essentials :-).
My hope chest had some dishes and things. Most of my furniture came out of my mom's barn and she let me take my bed out of my bedroom. That was almost 20 years ago and I still have some of the pieces of furniture she gave me and I still use them!!
I had a small chest that my father made for me that I put a few things in but most of my first apartment was furnished from second shops or meaningful relatives.
